Gruppo WISE, organizational partner of the inauguration event of a 250-million-euro investment by Duferco

An event to celebrate the start-up, after three years of authorization and construction procedures, of a new SBM (Smart Beam Manufacturing) rolling mill which allows for a strategic verticalization of the Brescia site of one of the main European steel groups. In fact, with its implementation, it was possible to complete the steel beam production chain – of which Duferco is the leader in Europe -, which until then had been compulsorily carried out in other plants, and guaranteeing a rolling capacity of 700 thousand tons annually. This is an investment of 250 million euros in total, made by the steel division of Duferco, a conglomerate that operates not only in electro steel but also in shipping and energy, with a 2023 turnover of 45.7 billion euros.

The plant, located in the municipality of San Zeno Naviglio, was the scene of a prestigious inauguration ceremony held on 16 October 2023: an event of extraordinary prestige and economic importance for the national industrial system and for the entire Italian economy. The entire event was directed and managed by Gruppo WISE together with its Partner Cipiesse, a company with more than 40 years of experience in entertainment productions.

Strategic support to the client’s Marketing division

Gruppo WISE SB supported Matteo Parodi, Head of Marketing of Duferco Energia, and his team, made up of Cristina Filippini, Alessandro Pastorino and Matteo Scarsi, in the complete creation, both from an organizational, aesthetic and structural point of view, and of an event that welcomed over 800 international guests. Furthermore, a panel of guest speakers opened the event, providing the appropriate content framework to support a gigantic investment that Antonio Gozzi himself, president of Duferco and number 1 of Federacciai (an association within Confindustria which brings together all the main steel producing industries in Italy), defined it as «the realization of a dream that our family has had for almost thirty years».

Top national institutions present

The event featured the intervention of excellent personalities from industry, central and regional government. In fact, there were successive speeches on stage by the Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, the President of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana, the President of Confindustria Carlo Bonomi and by President Gozzi himself, in his dual industrial and associative capacity. Also present were regional councilors and the highest officials of the administrations of the municipality of San Zeno Naviglio, Brescia and the province.

A weeks-long construction site for a high-impact location

The undoubted protagonist of the event was the new rolling mill and, with extraordinary interest, international stakeholders reached the production site to be able to preview it. A guided tour of the factory where it was installed, represented the long-awaited moment with which the event ended. This centrality made it essential to create a location for the conference phase within the perimeter of the steelworks site itself. In light of the large number of expected guests, Gruppo WISE entirely led, right from the design phase, the construction and installation of an imposing and elegant tensile structure, within which a stage of large dimensions with a strong visual impact, hosted a succession of institutional speeches which gave further content value to the event. The construction site worked for weeks, in the implementation of these structures under the constant guidance of the Gruppo WISE professionals.
